Spread costs versus total forex trading fees
A low-spread forex account can still carry commission. In the example above, one lot with a 1-pip spread and $3 commission per side costs $16 per complete trade: $10 spread plus $6 commission. For 30 identical trades, that is $480 before overnight or other charges.
For a Vantage Standard or Raw account, enter the actual spread and commission shown for your entity and instrument. Use the all-fees estimate for overnight positions. Compare like-for-like account types, trade sizes and currencies before deciding where to open an account.
Forex calculator questions
How do you calculate forex spread cost?
Spread cost equals spread in pips × pip value for one lot × lot size. With a 1-pip spread, a $10 pip value and one standard lot, the spread cost is $10. A complete opening and closing trade incurs one spread, assuming unchanged prices and spread.
How are trading commissions calculated?
Round-trip commission equals commission per lot per side × lot size × 2. For example, $3 per side costs $6 for a complete one-lot trade. This is an illustrative rate, not a live broker quote.
Does this calculator show live Vantage spreads?
No. All rates are editable examples. Confirm Vantage's current spreads, commissions, swap charges, account type and regional entity before registering. A minimum advertised spread is not a typical or guaranteed spread.
What pip value should I enter?
Enter the value of one pip for one lot in your account currency. For EUR/USD with a 100,000-unit standard lot and a USD account, one pip is $10. JPY pairs, other account currencies and CFDs use different pip or tick values and may require currency conversion.
Does the total include every possible fee?
It includes the spread, round-trip commission, entered swap costs and other fees you supply. Slippage, changing spreads, currency conversion, deposits, withdrawals and inactivity charges are not included unless entered. Nights are charged rollover units: count a triple-swap rollover as three.
