Vantage account reviewFormula & worked example
Swap cost or credit = swap per lot per charged night × lots × charged nights
With an illustrative $2 charge per lot per charged night, 0.5 lot and three charged nights, swap costs $3. A single triple-swap rollover also counts as three charged nights. Entering −$2 instead gives a $3 credit. Actual rollover schedules depend on the instrument and account.
Before opening an account
- Use your position's long or short rate; the two can differ.
- This tool takes money per lot, not swap points. Convert a points quote using your instrument's point value first.
- Count charged rollover units, not simply calendar nights. Check triple-swap dates and holidays with the broker.
- Swap-free accounts may have eligibility rules or administration charges; verify terms rather than assuming zero holding costs.
Common questions
How do I enter a swap credit?
Use a negative number for a credit and a positive number for a charge. Check the broker's sign convention before entering the rate.
Can swap change during a trade?
Yes. This estimate holds the entered rate constant across all charged nights. If rates differ by day, calculate each period separately and add the results.
